The Civil Engineering Services Department is committed to listening to our consumer's needs and building relationships with the community to improve our services.

George Municipality received a Blue Drop Status for the second year in a row at an award ceremony during the WISA Conference held in Durban during 2010. George came 5^th in the country out of 38 Water Services Authorities awarded Blue Drop Status. This certification is the clean audit of water management and it is more difficult to achieve if the number of successful municipalities is taken into account. There are 284 municipalities in the country, and 787 systems were accesses and only 38 were successful and George were not only in the top 10 but in the top 5. This is indeed an exceptional performance.

Awards achieved in the last five years includes

• Wilson Award for best Waste Water Treatment Plant in South Africa
• Award for Excellent standard of drinking water
• Award for Eradication of Buckets
• The Kamoso Award from the Department of Public Works for the Best Municipal Maintenance Project
• Kudu Award 2009 in the category Corporate Contribution by a non-profit institution for our contribution towards conservation for the Touw River Pipeline project
